We provide Spectrometers, Optical  Workstations, Components, and Instrument Systems to enable measurements at the in situ location of the sample, remote measurement invacuum, remote analytical monitoring of industrial processes, point of measurement for medical development and environmental on site spectral tracking.

The instrumentation can be provided as component parts; e.g. lights sources, lasers, spectrometers, Detectors, and sample interfacing or completely dedicated and integrated for the application.

The instrumentation uses fibre optics and /or  “Optics Link" technology to handshake with the sample.

 

Portable spectrometers for integrated use with tablet or laptop computers

The “PORT-SPEC" series Spectrometers and Fluorimeters are available for use with Microsoft Surface-Pro -3 tablet computers or Laptops using Microsoft  "Windows" based software. The design is such that the user can revert from the spectroscopy to normal apps with ease when required.

The instruments are available as Spectrometers or Fluorimeters and have provision for on board cuvette based measurement, or measurement by fibre optic probe sensor, or remote fibre optic measurement linking with our sample handling interfaces. The selected light source is powered separately to the spectrometer/computer by battery. Tablet units have an optional back support to allow the tablet screen to be angled for operation when not hand held. The units can also be wall mounted.

Portspec-700-T/L For use with:-
• Fibre optic probes, which can be “parked” on the instrument.
• Remote measurements using two fibre optics.
• Measurement in a cuvette. An “on board” option is available to mount a 10 mm path length cuvette.

Portspec-701-T/L This version of the spectrometer has a higher performance spectrometer included.
For use with:

• Measurement in a cuvette. An “on board” option is available to mount a 10 mm path length cuvette.
Wavelength range: 380 - 900 nm [Visible] or 550 -1100nm [NIR] The NIR range requires the use of NIR quality fibre optics.

Specfluorimeter – 702-T/L
This is a dedicated portable Spectrofluorimeter with selected LED Light source for excitation.
  • On board cuvette holder for 10 mm path length silica cuvette. Smaller path length cuvettes can be mounted via adapters.
• Fibre optic probes for fluorescence, which can be “parked” on the instrument. [Fluorescence of liquids and solids ] Probes which have an intrinsic activates sensor tip can be used.
• Remote measurements using two fibre optics for excitation and detection of spectral fluorescence. Remote sample compartments and holders for solids are available for fluorescence.
• LED light source and primary filter. Selected for application Typical LEDs have excitation outputs at 365 nm and 460 nm. Others are available on request.
• UV wavelengths require silica fibre optics.

Portable Microfluidics Chip Reader using Mini-spectroscopy

Microfluidics “Lab-on- Chip” has been advanced with new integrated Intermediary “on board” sensors using active holograms, sol gel and other optically interpreted indicators of the micro chemistry status.

This Portable spectroscopic reader is designed to provide concentration level status of the material compound or ionic state. For an active hologram chip the system measures concentration by wavelength shift and is set with thresholds to give display of status or security warning. For other chip sensors more typically fluorescence or fluorescence quenching is used for concentration level measurement.

The instrument has an on board array spectrometer, which enables tracking at multiple conditions and isobestic referencing, when possible.

Wavelength span and resolution can be selected within the overall range 220 -1100 nm, by nominating different gratings and slits. A typical reader covers the range 360 -850 nm with resolution of down to 1.7 nm. The detector is a high sensitivity PDA or CCD based on a 16 bit analysis electronics.

The instrument design allows easy interchange of optical chip compartments allowing selected optical analysis functionality. The microfluidics chips are cartridge mounted with easy access for introduction of samples to be measured.

CHIP-SPEC-600 SERIES

An integrated LABORATORY ARRAY SPECTROMETER PLATFORM for use with and spectral analysis of :-

  • Microfluidic Lab-on Chip with HOLOGRAM optical sensor.
  • Microfluidic Lab-on-Chip with FLUORESCENCE or optical sensor.
  • Microfluidic Lab-on-Chip with DIRECT SPECTRAL ANALYSIS of micro-flow.


The spectrometer comes with choice of one or more of the chip optical sample compartments using the above three methods.

Sample Compartments: All compartments have Lab-on-Chip PRE-ALIGNED CARTRIDGES.
These accept standard size chips 75 x25 mm, and 75 x 50 mm. Mountings also cater for different thickness size. The cartridge has easy access with a removable top plate. The top plate aperture is available for bespoke options for Luer fittings, connection to external programmable pumps, and other fittings [ Please request our Microfluidics Product package ]

These compartments include light source and power supply.
There is an option to use external light sources using fibre optics.
